JPG RGB Small with Border.jpgThe 'From Zero Joy to Zero Stress' project has been funded by the ESRC Impact Acceleration Account Programme at the University of Cambridge.

The ESRC has made an allocation to the University of Cambridge to run an Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) programme until 2017.

The aim of the IAA is to enhance the exploitation of the outputs of social science research in the University and to enable researchers at all levels to engage with the public, private and third sectors.

 

 Zero Joy to Zero Stress Team:


Alex J. Wood is a Alex 2Research Associate and PhD Candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Cambridge, and a member of Darwin College. His research focuses on the changing nature of flexible and insecure forms of work such as zero hour contracts. Of particular interest are new patterns of working-time flexibility and how this relates to insecurity, well-being, and issues of  workplace control and resistance. 

 

 

BrendanDr Brendan Burchell is Director of the Cambridge Undergraduate Quantitative Methods Centre and Reader in the Social Sciences in the Department of Sociology. His research interests are the effects of labour market experiences (e.g. job insecurity, work intensification, bankruptcy, unemployment) on psychological well-being; The social psychological effects of precarious employment and unemployment; Analysis of complex work and life histories data; Gender segregation, men’s and women’s life cycle and career; Emotional reactions to personal finances such as “Financial Phobia”.
